- Carolyn Martin: Between the Lines Between the Lines is a continuation of Martin’s research into the potentialities of a continuous, uninterrupted, layering graphite mark to produce depth within the paper. On view through November 10, 2019.
- Alisa Henriquez: Twist, Glide, Shine includes Heriquez’s most recent assemblages and collages, -combining digital images from pop culture, art history, and her personal archive with materials including paint, resin, glitter, and synthetic hair and fur. Heavily mascaraed eyes, glossed lips, hair, and images of the body conjure media informed notions of female fertility, sexuality, and desire On view through November 10, 2019.
- Simone Paterson: Machine Memory + Motherboards documents the historical development of computer chips, circuits, and motherboards. This new body of work questions whose memories and data are privileged and preserved, and whose labor is acknowledged or made redundant in our transition to AI. On view through November 10, 2019.
The first Thursday of every month‚ the galleries of DUMBO stay open late, hosting special events and receptions. Visitors curate their own evening of art viewing by visiting any or all participating venues. Maps are available on site.

Asphodel (20 Jay Street #837) hosts an opening reception for Heidi Schwegler: Zoonosis, a one-person exhibition of cast glass sculpture and photographic works from Heidi Schwegler. On view through December 20, 2019.
Big & Small / Casual Showcase (20 Jay Street #M01) presents Jillian McDonald: Home Sweet (Psycho) Home which brings together McDonald’s works on paper that reference horror films, ecological holocaust, haunted landscapes, and paranormal events and includes drawings from her series of Horror Film Houses. On view through November 7, 2019.
Brooklyn Arts Council (20 Jay Street Suite 616) hosts an opening reception for Larry Racioppo: B-BALL NYC which presents photographs showing how New Yorkers will play basketball anywhere and everywhere–from playgrounds with lined courts to netless hoops nailed to a tree. Noted as ”one of the great visual bards of NYC’s street life,” Racioppo’s images in B-BALL NYC are a vital record of the city’s cultural history. On view through December 19, 2019.
ELLIS Studio/Gallery (68 Jay Street, Basement #26) hosts a reception for David Craig Ellis: Same Old Wod which brings together medium and large-scale oil paintings from 90’s through today as well as prints, posters, illustration books, T-shirts, and tote bags. On view through December 4, 2019.
Janet Borden (91 Water Street) presents Interior Influences | Jim Down, Guillermo Srodek-Heart, Walker Evans, Fernando Paillet, a group exhibition. On view through December 7, 2019.
LIGHT YEAR (Pearl Street Triangle) presents Light Year 55, a collection of videos curated by John Ensor Parker. LIGHT YEAR presents video at a massive scale, projecting curated collections onto the Manhattan Bridge Anchorage. On view November 7, 2019, 6-10pm.
Made in NY Media Center by IFP (30 John Street) hosts an opening reception for How We Move: Reverence, Revelation, and Rapture the second iteration of their How We Move series. Through various experimental techniques, these films depict Black movement rooted in terror and glory, rage and respite, legacy and boundless grace, rather than stereotypes of the athletic and rhythmic Black body.. Artists include: Safiyah Chiniere, Ahmad R. Saeed, Russell Hamilton, Gerald L. Leavell II. On view through December 2, 2019.
Main Window (1 Main Street) presents Cecile Chong: Straingers, a large scale, multi-media installation of mask-like sculptures. The beaded images of the guagua, the Quechua word for baby, are applied to kitchen strainers, suggesting separation–liquid from solid, insider from outsider, exotic from mundane. On view through December 16, 2019.
New York Studio School (20 Jay Street #307) hosts an opening reception for Pushing the Wall which brings together ten artists whose work conceptually and logistically depends on the wall. Artists include: Carol Diamond, Bruce Gagnier, Natalie Charkow Hollander, Jock Ireland, Elisa Jensen, Jilaine Jones, Kaitlin McDonough, Jenny Lynn McNutt, John Newman, Lee Tribe. Triangle Arts Association (20 Jay Street, 317 + 318) hosts Open Studios for their fall residents. Artists include: Damien Davis, Joel Dean, Ye-Eun Min, Maija Luutonen, and Felicity Holland. One night only.
United Photo Industries (16 Main Street, Gallery B) presents Female in Focus, an exhibition celebrating the new award founded in partnership with 1854 Media & British Journal of Photography to highlight the exceptional quality of work by female photographers around the world. Female in Focus features over 22 Photographers including the Jury Choice Series Winners Priya Jambli and Katinka Schuett. On view through November 15, 2019.
Undercurrent (70 John Street Brooklyn) presents After Light. Curated by Daina Mattis, After Light meditates on the idea of looking but not buying. One can buy a window, a view, and even airspace, but no one can purchase daylight. The work in After Light punches holes into the capitalist mirage that everything is for sale. Artists include Elisabeth Roth, Michael Villareal, Megan Stroech, Ashley Jonas, Saar Shemesh. On view through November 9, 2019.
