DUMBO Public Art Tour
Join us to celebrate the latest projects from the Downtown Brooklyn and Dumbo Art Fund. See the works, and hear from artists Sherwin Banfield, Joseph Morris, and Owen Trueblood about their pieces and process.
Sherwin Banfield, Sky’s the Limit in the County of Kings is a sustainable sonic sculptural tribute dedicated to the legacy of Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace. Born and raised in Brooklyn, B.I.G.’s musical frequency is rooted in American, Jamaican and African rhythms. A true Diasporic sound, internationally recognized and celebrated as a King among Hip-Hop Royalty. Where Brooklyn at?!
Anchorage | Babel in Reverse is a site-specific installation by artists Joseph Morris and Owen Trueblood in collaboration with the Endangered Language Alliance (ELA) that features the voices of hundreds of speakers of endangered languages spoken throughout the city of New York.
Banfield and Morris & Trueblood’s pieces are presented by the Downtown Brooklyn and Dumbo Art Fund, with support from the Downtown Revitalization Fund. Additional support from DOT Art and NYC Parks Department.
