The Unforgettables Reading/Working Group
December 4, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
155 Plymouth Street
Brooklyn, NY 11201 United States
The Unforgettables Reading/Working group is a series of open to the public monthly meetings at the A.I.R. space running since late 2016, initiated by artist Ofri Cnaani and A.I.R. Executive Director Roxana Fabius. This group, formed by readers/workers from several disciplines and walks of life, brings to the front a combination of texts, artworks, and films. Every month the group looks at historic feminist and queer manifestos, science fiction, new feminist fiction writings, and theory pieces that help to imagine a future where no-one is forgotten.
Each session is led by a different member of the group, empowering the attendants to learn, and publicly share their thoughts with others. The Unforgettables Reading/Working Group embraces its origins, accepts the mistakes of the past, and aims to become more inclusive. We invite everyone to study, converse, and work together. Studying side by side, the group works on A.I.R.’s non official horizontal and updated feminist library. An unusual unforgettable one.
The next Unforgettables Reading/Working group will be on Tuesday, December 4, 7-9PM, and will be led by London based artist and writer, Diann Bauer. She is part of the working group Laboria Cuboniks who wrote Xenofeminism: A Politics of Alienation and the collaborative A.S.T. whose’s focus is speculative urbanism and climate change. Bauer has screened and exhibited internationally at Tate Britain, the ICA and The Showroom, London, The Sharjah Biennale 13, UAE, Deste Foundation, Athens, The New Museum and Socrates Sculpture Park, New York, History Miami Museum and Art Center South Florida, Miami. She has taught and lectured widely at universities and cultural institutions including: Cornell University, Yale University and Cooper Union (US), HKW (Germany), DAI (Netherlands), Ashkal Alwan (Lebanon), Goldsmiths, The Baltic, The Tate and the ICA (UK).
